I am an Angel

Happy Mother's Day to all fellow moms. Let me just share this very touching conversation I found on Facebook today. Allow me to express my glee and tell you that I feel so blessed to be a mother.
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to Earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

"Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking it's life."

"But I will always be sad beacause I will not see you anymore."

God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

"You will simply call her, Nanay."

Just Because It's Your Birthday

I grew up under my ate’s (older sister that is) care. She’s only 5 years my senior and yet my mama was able to entrust me and my younger brother with her at home. She’s not the oldest amongst us siblings, but I believe she portrayed that part very well. She’s responsible and very mother-like. She would prepare our food, laundry our clothes (a lot of times I would wake-up naked because she wants my clothes to be washed according to her schedule) and makes (she doesn’t want to teach) my homeworks. We do not have special bond, just plain sisters (don't you think that's the strongest bond?lol). She hates it when I hang-out with her, she would tease me that I idolize her and I refuse to accept that.

But now looking back, I must admit (just don’t tell her), that she had influenced me a lot. I grew up not liking Sharon Cuneta because she prefers Maricel Soriano. I’m not into make-ups because she never dared to put it on her face. She’s witty, smart, funny, strong, responsible and hard-working. Traits that I try so hard to follow. I’m just so lucky to be her sister and be under her care. Sige na, ikaw na idol ko.hehe

Now, that mi bebe is going to be an ate, I hope and pray that she would inherit my ate’s characteristics and would be the best ate her baby sibling could ever have.

PS: I'm not all praises to my ate right now because it's her birthday. No, don't ever think that. ;-p

Disciplined Love and Affection

I’m so pleased with the mental development of mi bebe. She is growing to be a smart kid. She’s a fast learner, very attentive and responsive with our teachings. She can identify almost everything around her (the parts of her body, the household appliances, her toys and the members of the family). She tries to repeat words thought to her clearly. She can associate virtual things to the actual. She knows what she wants and she knows how to get it – that’s the part where I’m afraid. I don’t want mi bebe to grow brat and bitchy.

Although she’s generally sweet and obedient, stubborn moments are hard to avoid especially if there’s spoiler around (not me nor mi esposo, but her grandmamma). Like last night, she cried incessantly just because she wants to go out in the drizzling night. Of course I have to impose proper discipline. I firmly said no and no matter how her lola tried to interfere, I stood by my decision. I believe disciplining starts at the age where a baby starts learning, at the very foundation of knowledge. It may be as simple as saying NO to a situation (but be equipped with the good reason). Last night, I told her, "no, you cannot go out anymore, its night time, its dark and its cold outside". Was she convinced? Of course not, she kept on crying and I let her. I believe parents should always practice disciplined love and affection in order to contribute a good person in the society.

That night, she fell asleep in my embrace.

New Life

When I returned to work after my 5 weeks of bed confinement, I was welcomed to a new environment, our group has transferred to a new office. I knew about this plan, I was there when they were drawing it but wasn’t able to witness the actual move-in. Felt like my 1st day again, new familiar faces, new old place. But what I enjoyed about my 1st day was that there’s free lunch and Razon’s halo-halo. Although it was not a welcome or welcome- back treat for me but at least my colleagues were so sweet not to ask for my contribution. It’s actually the birthday of one of our officemates and the rest contributed for a lunch feast (they excluded me, lucky me! lol). I learned that there is a new set-up in our work flow too, a new approach in dealing with our task. New life I told you, adjustment period anew.

But aside from my new life in the office, there is also a new life growing inside my tummy. Yes, I am now on my 13th week of pregnancy. It came as an unexpected surprise which our small family willingly and wholeheartedly welcomed. Dragon baby, why not?

Back in Front

Okay, I cannot be a full time blogger. That, I proved during my bed confinement. I was ordered to take a rest which lasted for more than 5 weeks. With that span of time I only made 1 post just because it was paid. Admittedly, it’s not a good post, I am planning to revise it when industriousness hits me. But to-date, I’m glad to say that I’m out of my bed, reported back to work and back to blogging.

How do you know, with a long vacation comes pile of pending jobs. Not with my full-time job but more on my blogging. To tell you the truth, I left 2 requests on my office table before my unexpected leave, it needs supporting documents from the requesting parties. But after a month of my absence, they still haven’t complied. So today that I’m back, I sentenced their request “for return without action due to non-compliance”. I hate to be tagged with pending, you know. I’ll also try to update my blogging as much as possible. I have lots of story-telling to share and news to give.

It’s nice to be back in front of my PC.

Oral Health Care

I’d like to admit I had a poor oral hygiene when I was young (I guess everybody went past that stage), as they say, “regret comes in the end”. I now reap what I sow, I have missing molars that need dentures. My kuya who is a dental technician by profession suggests dental implants, it is an artificial tooth that are placed in the jaw, it looks and feel real teeth and it does not alter the natural teeth that is next to the implant. My kuya is working in a hospital in Riyadh right now, how I wish he could make me one (for free ofcourse). But if I may fancy, I would rather have my dental implants Mexico style. I heard the place offers good dental services plus I can visit its spectacular beaches too. Not to mention Mexico offers cheap dental procedures than most part of the world. Dental implants Los Algodones Mexico specifically is the place to be, it is the most peaceful US-Mexico border, which will literally makes patients return home with a big smile.

So now, as part of personal hygiene, I introduced teeth brushing to mi bebe early. I started brushing her gums (yes, I was cleaning her mouth even before her first tooth came out) when she was around 3 months old. It was merely wiping of her gums, tongue and cheeks (inside part) to prevent bacteria build-up and to prepare it for a healthy teeth in the future. I used gauge wrapped around my index finger damped with her drinking water. It is also a good way of introducing oral health care to infants. Mi bebe just loves brushing now, so much that she’ll make sure she’ll make you feel that she doesn’t need ANY help. Lol

Goodbye my Mashie

I was about to post an update on the development of the new born pugs but something unexpected came out. Their dear mom-pug, Mash, decided to say goodbye to them and to all of us. She left us without a warning, she caught all of us unaware. She was our pet for 3 years, it was so disheartening.

It was on that fatal hot Friday, everybody in house who saw her condition got worried in an instant. My mama called me from home to inform me of her state, she reported that Mash is suffering from heat-stroke, she was breathing deep and with tongue out. I ask her to give water and shade her against the sun ray, she told me they already did and that my brother was pouring water over her tongue. They even put a fan directly on her. I thought she’ll get by with the first aid administered to her, but to be sure, and knowing that mi esposo is more knowledgeable, I asked him to call home and hear Mash’s condition for himself. He just added to dump wet her nose. We thought she’ll be okay.

When we arrived home, Mash was so far from okay. She was so weak and her body was so stiff. After few attempts of giving her emergency treatment, mi esposo finally decided to bring her to a vet-med. The veterinarian who saw her, instantly ruled out heat-stroke and told mi esposo it was caused either by corona virus or poisoning. The doctor did his best to revived her, but Mash was not able to come back home.
